After the announcement of the new redesigned Toyota Camry as well as when they started production, Toyota has finally launched the new Camry in Japan at their Tokyo Toyota, Toyopet, Toyota Corolla and Netz dealers nationwide.
Toyota has sold more than 18 million Camry over the years since the original Camry debuted in 1980. Everywhere it goes, the name Camry is synonymous with the market and is known to be a reliable midsize sedan. It is now available in over 100 countries worldwide.
To recap, the new Camry uses the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) as the basis for the all-new platform, units, electronics, and other core components. It also features are a Human Machine Interface (HMI) to make driving easier, a high-class interior cabin with well-cut features, and state-of-the-art active safety systems. The new Camry redefines the standard for high-end midsize sedans.
In Japan, the Camry is built at the Tsutsumi Plant, Toyota Motor Corporation and Toyota aims to sell 2,400 units a month there. The Camry sold in Japan will be utilising the hybrid platform which pairs a 2.5L engine producing 178ps and an electric motor which produces 120ps. This gives it a combined power of 211ps overall and 200Nm of torque.
