Sunday Musings: Superbowl Ads to Look Forward To

As we usher in the Chinese New Year, another big event is happening over in the West. One that brings millions of viewers sitting in front of their television sets waiting for the main event which is a match between the Seattle Seahawks and the Denver Broncos. Yes, I am talking about Superbowl 2014.

I am definitely not a fan of American Football nor will I call football as soccer. But what I do love are the adverts as companies spend millions of dollars for that prime time space.

Here are some of the car adverts that will be shown this Sunday (US Eastern time) during the Superbowl.

Hyundai Genesis – Six Sense

This is a nice advert touching both a father’s love as well as showcasing the car’s feature. Good job, Hyundai!

Audi – Doberhuahua

Honestly, who doesn’t love adverts featuring dogs? Maybe Audi has gone a little creepy with this but it was funny when I asked all my friends who were into dogs what a doberhuahua was. The answer? It was absolutely hilarious!

Audi – A Special Message from Sarah McLachlan

A follow up from the Doberhuahua campaign, I thought this wasn’t anything interesting.

Toyota – Toyota Highlander with Muppets

It seemed more of a trailer introducing the Muppets and the Toyota Highlander. I thought Toyota could have done better than this.

Hyundai Elantra – Nice

So what happens when Leonard Hofstadter (Big Bang Theory) drives a Hyundai Elantra? Well the results are pretty much expected if you are indeed a fan of the Big Bang Theory.

Kia K900 – Morpheus

This is totally awesome, Morpheus of the Matrix makes a comeback in this Kia advertisement. Kia seems to be putting quite a fair bit of budget in adverts lately especially being the main sponsor of the World Cup. This advert just shouts awesome.

Jaguar – Good To Be Bad

We covered this piece of advertisement a couple of days back. Again it is still awesome, the car that is.

Volkswagen – Wings

This is a pretty nifty advert, it does relate well but unfortunately not with many customers here in Malaysia.

As we count down to the actual Superbowl, I am sure there will be more advertisements released.
