Nissan USA recalls MY15 Rouges over faulty shift selector knob

In just over nine months, Nissan reached the 100,000 vehicle sales milestone in Canada, tracking an increase of 11.5 per cent, calendar year-to-date.

Nissan USA is recalling about 33,800 Nissan Rouges (Nissan X-Trail here) over a faulty shift selector knob. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the SUV could shift out of park without the brake pedal depressed.

The faulty shift selector knob results in the vehicles failing to conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 114, “Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention.” All affected Nissan Rouge models are manufactured in Smyrna, Tennessee between February 10 2015 to May 13 2015.

Nissan USA will be in touch with owners of these affected models, while the dealers will inspect and replace the knob if needed. All repair works are free of charge.
