Daihatsu has reported that they will be debuting a new concept car at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show, called the D-base Concept. Thus far, they have not released much information regarding this new supermini.
The little Daihatsu D-base Concept sits well within kei cars’ regulated size, with a length of 3.4 meters, width of 1.48 meters and a height of 1.49 meters. Further reinforcing the point that the D-base Concept will be the next-generation Daihatsu Mira, the D-base Concept will be powered by a 660 cc three pot engine with low friction internal components. This, coupled with the engine idle stop function, high 11.3:1 compression ratio and an on-demand alternator means that the D-base can achieve a fuel consumption of just 3L/100 km.
Said to preview future generation of superminis, the Daihatsu D-base Concept will feature the company’s e:S (Eco & Smart) technology, which encompasses regenerative braking and a lightweight body.
The current generation Daihatsu Mira made a global debut way back in 2006, and a replacement can’t come soon enough.
