Apparently you can’t produce a James Bond movie without trashing a few cars to death. While a few cars are perhaps necessary, you will probably cringe to find this total damage actually comes up to 24 million pounds (RM160 million). Yep, that’s how much the vehicles getting trashed in the process of filming the latest 007 flick, Spectre, amounted to. And yes, that’s a new record.

According to Gary Powell, the movie’s chief stunt-coordinator, who recently spoke with the U.K.’s Daily Mail, during the filming of the most expensive Bond movie ever, a total of 7 specially designed Aston Martin DB10 sports cars were destroyed.

“We set the record for smashing up cars on Spectre. In Rome, we wrecked millions of pounds worth. They were going into the Vatican at top speeds of 110 mph (177km/h). We shot one entire night for 4 seconds of film.” Wait, what?!

In another cool scene, a full-size aeroplane piloted by Bond ploughs through an Alpine barn only to careen into the villain’s Land Rover, reducing it to a flaming wreck. Inevitably, the impervious spy, played by Daniel Craig, walks away unscathed.

10 sleek Aston Martin DB10s, equipped with the famous ejector seat, were specially created for Spectre, 51 years after Sean Connery drove the similarly-equipped iconic DB5 in Goldfinger.

Spectre is expected to hit the theater on 6 November 2015 but we can already tell that this movie is worth the wait!
