Just ten years ago, fresh from the success of the Murcielago, Lamborghini debuted its “Mini Murcielago”, dubbed the Gallardo. Named after a famous breed of fighting bull, the first 5.0L V10 powered super car rolled out from its Sant’Agata Bolognese plant and became Lamborghini’s biggest seller. Ten years later and after multiple variants of Gallardo later, the last unit of the Gallardo (pictured above) has been rolled out. Word has it the final unit of the Gallardo LP 570-4 Spyder Performante, was purchased by a private collector who is a big Lamborghini fan.

Over the last ten years the Italian firm has been producing multiple variants of the Gallardo, from the Spyder, Superleggera, the LP 550-570 series and many more.  There are a few Gallardos supplied to police forces in Italy and Dubai as well, making traffic offenders or criminals to think twice before outrunning the cops in a Lambo. A few countries has been entitled with the special limited editions of the Gallardos and that includes Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore and our very own Malaysia.

The Gallardos has been featured in many motor sports events, more notably in GT racing in the SUPER GT, GT3, Super Trofeo one make series, and various endurance racing, with the bull raking in a good number of victories under its belt too.

Just like how the Mucielago has stepped down to make way for the Avendator, the Gallardo will be replaced for the upcoming Cabrera, which should be launched in 2014 or 2015. Until then, ciao Gallardo and thanks for the wonderful memories.
