Exactly one year after it was introduced, the Lamborghini Egoista has returned to its home in Sant’Agata Bolognese. It will now be permanently displayed at Lamborghini headquarters – at first in the showroom, and then in the Museum.
The Lamborghini Egoista was developed by Walter De Silva, Head of Volkswagen Group Design, as a tribute to the House of The Raging Bull’s 50th anniversary, which was celebrated in 2013.
This futuristic single-seater is the only one of its kind in the world. It is powered by a 5.2-litre V10 engine that churns out 600hp. The look is sharply distinguished by a muscular structure with alternating open and solid areas, and the profile suggests the stylized silhouette of a bull about to take charge.
The cockpit’s interior features a racing seat with a four-point seatbelt and the bare minimum of instruments. The focal point of this is a head-up display, typical of jet fighters. To get out of the vehicle, the driver must remove the steering wheel and rest it on the dashboard, open the dome with an electronic command, stand up in their seat, sit down on a precise point of the left-hand bodywork, then swivel their legs 180 degrees from the inside of the cockpit to the outside of the vehicle. At this point they can set their feet down and stand up. Even getting in and out of the vehicle, the Lamborghini Egoista requires the dexterity of a pilot more than a driver, a real top gun to handle this raging bull.
