The Grand Tour is out and episode 1 shows the extent of Hammond’s crash [+video]

Season 2 of The Grand Tour is now out on Amazon Prime with the antics of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May back in action again. The episodes were relatively been changed in terms of the order of appearance and what Amazon did was to show the episode with Richard’s crash first.

In summary, the episode talked about the past, present and future cars where the past was a petrol powered car, the present was a hybrid and the future, was a fully electric car. This was the time when Richard chose the Rimac Concept One, the electric hypercar as the car for the future.

The Rimac Concept One

During a hill-climb event in Switzerland, after going through the course multiple times, when it was the timed lap for Richard Hammond, he successfully completed the 11 turns necessary to cross the finish line but proceeded to slide off the road at the corner after the finish line which led to his crash.

For the sake of continuity, they needed to show this episode first because, for the rest of the shooting, Richard was using crutches as well as was in a cast. So there you have it. As Jeremy Clarkson said, Hammond definitely can’t drive in a straight line and now it has been proven, around corners too.
