It has been almost 20 years since F1 legend, and arguably the greatest F1 driver ever, Ayrton Senna, passed away. As a special tribute, the Williams F1 team will race with a special Ayrton Senna logo in 2014, commemorating 20 years since his tragic accident in Imola. The logo will be embedded on the front noses of FW36 cars that used this year.
This season, a new logo – designed by the Ayrton Senna Foundation – will feature on the left-hand side of the FW36’s nose, including a picture of Ayrton next to the words “Ayrton Senna Sempre”, Portuguese for “Always”.
“I was very close to Ayrton and the iconic double S logo has been a mainstay on our cars since his death 20 years ago,” commented Williams Founder and Team Principal Sir Frank Williams.
“This new logo is our way of celebrating his achievements as a racing driver, and also the sterling work of his Foundation which is doing so much to promote educational opportunities in Brazil.”
Apart of his tremendous race craft that made him a three-time world champion over a decade in F1, Senna is also a philanthropist where he secretly donated millions of his earnings to the poor in Brazil.
