Mitsubishi Australia has recently unveiled the facelifted Mitsubishi Lancer to their home market, which was formally unveiled back in October.
Down Under, they get several trim levels of the Mitsubishi Lancer, ranging from the entry-level ES Sport with a 2.0-litre MIVEC all the way to the GSR Sportback with the 2.4-litre MIVEC engine. Both manual and CVT are offered to buyers over there.
Equipment updates include new LED daytime running lights, foglights, new 18-inch wheel design, new meter cluster design, a new touchscreen infotainment system and a revised CVT.
Back home, the sole Lancer we get is of the GTE trim, which boasts a 2.0-litre MIVEC four-cylinder engine mated to a CVT. New additions over the older GT includes the sunroof, keyless entry system, rear seat ISOFIX mount and a driver knee airbag.
When the facelift arrives, which we expect should happen later this year, it should bring along the updated front fascia. After all, we get our Mitsubishi Lancers directly from Japan. We expect the facelifted Lancer to carry over most of the features from the Australian model.
Want to wait for the next generation instead? Tough luck, as Mitsubishi is still looking for partners to develop the new Lancer.
Apart from the updated Mitsubishi Lancer, Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia will also be launching the all-new Outlander, so stay tuned for that!
