It seems that Volkswagen’s emission fiasco has yet to see the end, as it seems that another 800,000 more Volkswagen models are affected. This time around, it appears that CO2 emissions are ‘inconsistent’.
Volkswagen has estimated that the fix will cost the company $2.2 billion, as owners may seek compensation claims under false pretenses.
The models affected are several VAG companies including VW, Seat and Skoda vehicles that use the 1.4-, 1.6- and 2.0-litre diesel engines built in the year 2012 and later. The Volkswagen 1.4-litre petrol engine with cylinder deactivation technology is also affected.
According to the VW spokesperson, the fuel efficiency deviations ranged from 10 – 15%, and is a huge problem for customer in Europe.
“From the very start I have pushed hard for the relentless and comprehensive clarification of events,” said VW CEO Matthias Mueller in an official statement. “We will stop at nothing and nobody. This is a painful process but it is our only alternative.”
