Remember back in the day when we all recognized the blue Japanese sedan with gold rims that terrorized the tarmac and won rallies? It looks like Subaru is bringing back the familiar look with the new WRX STI, which is set to be unveiled at next week’s Detroit Motor Show. For your info, in the United States the car is marketed as WRX STI where for the rest of the world, it is known as the Impreza WRX STI.

From the looks of these leaked images found on the Internet, it seems the Impreza WRX STI is back to its original roots, and we are glad to see that. The blue paint and gold rims have made a glorious return, with a huge wing planted at the rear. No confirmed details on the performance but many have speculated it will be propelled by a 2.5L turbocharged engine, producing approximately 300 BHP.

Look out for more info on this blue beast when the Detroit Motor Show starts on Jan 14th.
