Since safety is the number one priority for many minivan owners, KIA has put together their very own crash-test by dropping its all-new Grand Carnival minivan from a height of 12.6 meters.
As scary as it sounds, before you start jumping into a random conclusion, we just want to let you know that this crash test doesn’t exactly look as violent as a regular frontal collision would – not to mention a collision with another car, instead of a stationary object. One of the many reasons is because the Korean automaker used 52% AHSS (Advanced High Strength Steel) for the Grand Carnival’s body structure so this minivan looks like one really tough cookie to crack.
In terms of impact forces, dropping the minivan from a height of 12.6 meters was the same as putting it though a 56 km/h regular crash test.
The video is also well put together, with the vertical set and the slow motion shots. It’s a nice experience viewing-wise, and it’s also a relief to see how the Safety Zone remains almost unaffected, protecting the passengers.

CW Says…
This is nothing new actually, older readers will remember what Volvo did in 1985 to show just how strong the 760 was, and from a greater height too!
