Volkswagen is one of those family-friendly automakers that constantly seeks to improve a vehicles’ safety, especially when a child is on board. Now imagine what it would be like if the German automaker applies this same concept to a stroller.
Recently, the Volkswagen team from The Netherlands asked the public to suggest how the company might improve other products, aside from automobiles. The most popular response was a baby stroller with automatic braking. So they decided to go ahead and built a prototype.
We’re not sure if there’s some kind of marketing trick going on here but this stroller happens to be the coolest thing ever! Not only does it apply automatic braking, it can even follow the guardian around under its own power and with its own steering. It’s got the adaptive cruise control sensor from a Golf and is programmed to keep a fixed distance from the guardian in front.
Whether it’s real or not, the invention in the video below is sure to pique the interest of parents, and maybe get those without kids thinking about taking that next big step!
