Just ahead of its official debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show in September, Ferrari has dropped photos of the new Ferrari 488 Spider. This new Ferrari will be their fastest mid-engined convertible, ever!
Boasting a 0-100 km/h time of 3 seconds and a top speed of 326 km/h, the Ferrari 488 Spider has the same torsional strength as its coupe sibling, the 488 GTB, thanks to the various aluminium alloys used. Power figures are also identical to the 488 GTB as well, with a twin-turbocharged 3.9-litre V8 pushing out 661 bhp at a mental 8,000 rpm and 760 Nm of torque from 3,000 rpm.
Because of the Ferrari 488 Spider’s convertible nature, it weighs a bit more than the 488 GTB, at 1,524 kg dry. According to Ferrari, the folding hard-top is 25 kg lighter than a fabric roof, and it takes only 14 seconds to open or close the roof. The buttress behind the cabin is designed to direct air into the engine bay.
The Ferrari 488 Spider is expected to be officially unveiled at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, which is set to start from 17 September till 27 September 2015.
