While the large executive market is arguably dominated by German marques, Japanese automaker, Infiniti has launched the new Q70 – formally known as the Infiniti M – as a solid alternative within its market segment.

Available in 3 choices of V6 engine variants namely the Q70 2.5L, Q70 3.7L and Q70 3.5L Hybrid, this sophisticated performance luxury sedan features styling that look similar to that of the smaller Q50 sedan, which was launched in our local market in August last year.
The Q70 emphasizes driving performance more than some of its competitors, while still maintaining a luxurious feel. Under the hood, power is supplied by either a 2.5-litre, V6 engine or a 3.7-litre VVEL (Variable Valve Event Lift) V6 engine. The 2.5-litre engine has a total output of 218hp and 320Nm of torque while the later generates 253hp and 360Nm of torque. Both engines are capable of achieving surprisingly frugal fuel economy at 12.1 km/L and 11.8 km/L respectively.
Those who seek extra performance can opt for the Q70 3.5L Hybrid model featuring a 1-motor, 2-clutch parallel hybrid powertrain, generating a combined system output of 360hp and 350Nm of torque. It is able to go from 0-100 km/h in less than 6 seconds, while fuel economy is rated at 14.5km/L (combined).
All Q70 comes standard with Infiniti’s refined 7-speed automatic transmission with Adaptive Shift Control (ASC) and manual shiftmode. One of its greatest strengths is its very aggressive Downshift Rev Matching, which rapidly brings the engine up to the correct rpm for a fast and smooth downshift.
For all of its sports car attributes, the Q70 is still very much a luxury model, as reflected by its spacious and cosseting cabin. The quilted leather-appointment and the hand crafted white ash silver-powdered wood available in the cabin is top-notch. Apart from that, you will also find climate controlled, 10-way power driver and front passenger’s seats including 2-way power lumbar support as standard, along with a dual occupant memory system for the driver’s seat, steering wheel and outside mirrors – which can be linked to the individual Intelligent Keys. In addition, each Intelligent Key remembers the last used climate control and audio.
The Q70 also comes with Active Noise Control, which generates “cancelling” sound from 4 door speakers (and subwoofer for models equipped with a Bose sound system) to reduce unpleasant engine sound. Beyond that, there’s also a navigation system that is displayed through a high-resolution 8-inch colour touch screen display. Streaming audio via Bluetooth and a Music Box with 9.3GB space provides a library of personalized tunes.
The range of safety equipment available in the Q70 is notable, which includes 6 airbags, in addition to Vehicle Dynamic Control systems, Speed-sensing central door locking with electromagnetic fuel lid opener and crash-sensitive door unlock, Anti-theft alarm and immobilizer, inclination sensors and super lock as standard feature.
Available in 5 colours; Hermosa Blue, Malbec Black, Liquid Platinum, Graphite Shadow, and Moonlight White with premium pearl finish, the Q70 is available for viewing and test drives at Infiniti Center Kuala Lumpur from 10th June.
