Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) has started a special service campaign aimed to replace the ABS actuator in the Lexus NX. The service campaign is aimed to ensure customers’ confidence and peace of mind.
The ABS actuator controls the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Traction Control System (TRAC) and the Vehicle Stability Control System (VSC). Inside the ABS actuator is a little component with an improper shape, and there is a possibility that a resin component could be damaged during the assembly process, which creates a tiny resin fragment that could get stuck in the actuator. This could result in a delay in the oil pressure control when ABS is applied, which can cause the vehicle to lose stability and possibly resulting in an accident.
According to TMC, there is approximately 255 units of the Lexus NX in Malaysia that is manufactured from November 2014 till March 2015 that will be involved in this service campaign.
UMW Toyota Motor will be in touch with the Lexus NX owners to carry out the necessary measures. The ABS actuator, if found to be faulty, will be replaced at no charge to the owner.
Owners of other Lexus models need not worry, as this does not affect other models.
