Naza Premira has taken the wraps-off the new Vespa Sprint, which marks the return of the legendary Vespino back in the 60s and 70s. The new Vespa Sprint has several aesthetic characteristics that is a throwback to the legendary Vespino, like the sporty saddle accentuated by a black cover with white line finish and signature square headlamp.

Powering the Vespa Sprint is a 150 cc, single cylinder 4-stroke engine with 3 valves (2 intake, 1 exhaust), single overhead cam and electronic fuel injection, producing a total of 11.66 horsepower at 7,500 rpm and 12 Nm of twist at 5,000 rpm. An automatic continuously variable transmission drives the rear wheel. The engine is designed and built in Piaggio’s Pontedera plant, and is said to be more fuel efficient than its 2 valve predecessor. Fuel consumption at a constant 50 km/h is rated at 64 km/L, thanks to its new free-wheel electric starter and dry centrifugal clutch.
Braking power is courtesy of a 200 mm disc brake up front, and 140 mm drum brake at the rear. The Vespa Sprint comes with ABS. Apart from that, the new Vespa also features LED daytime running lights, multifunction digital display and redesigned 12-inch aluminium alloy wheels.
Priced at RM13,888 (excluding 6% GST) and will be available in six distinctive colours, namely Montebianco (white), Rosso Dragon (red), Grigio Titanio (grey), Blu Midnight (dark blue), yellow and orange. The Vespa Sprint will be backed with a 2 year manufacturer’s warranty or 20,000km (whichever comes first). Vespa Malaysia currently has 25 authorized dealers in Peninsular Malaysia and East Malaysia.
Also at the event, Naza Premira has also rolled out the Vespa Assist service, which is backed by AAM bikers assist. The service is aimed to provide 24/7 breakdown assistance, free towing services (zone dependent), minor on-the-spot repair services, AAM Motor Insurance and Vehicle Inspection and Valuation services. One year of free Vespa Assist is entitled to new Vespa owners who register their motorcycles from 1st April 2015. The service will comment from 10th April and can be dialed via its dedicated hotline at 011-2203 1111.
