The Volkswagen Club Malaysia (VCM), one of the active car communities about, previously organized a charity drive event to make a difference in the lives of some folks. It all started when the club founder and one of the members, Mr. Ong, were discussing about their previous charity event that they decided to help the children from “Karunai Illham” in Taman Ehsan Kepong for Deepavali.
The “Karunai Illham” home is currently run by Ms Ratna and it houses 14 children, aging from 7 to 17 years of age and the girls stay at the home for all of their time. When the VCM committee asked the caretaker what they girls wanted for Deepavali, the response they received was that the girls would like new Punjabi dresses for the upcoming Deepavali festival of lights.
With a request like that, Mr. Ong from VCM then gathered the Volkswagen Club Malaysia members to collect donations and sponsored the girl’s Punjabi dresses. On the 27th of October, 6 cars from the club brought the girls on a shopping spree along Jalan TAR in Kuala Lumpur.
Amidst the heavy traffic and the pouring rain, the volunteers from VCM felt extremely happy and said it was a fulfilling trip because seeing the smiles from the girls made everything worth it.
