The image above doesn’t give away much but if you really think a little bit harder, just a little bit, it sort of tells us that Renault Sport is targeting to hit below 8 minutes around the infamous Nurburgring. And they are not doing it alone, it seems that they are going to be collaborating with Michelin for tyres, Akrapovic for the exhaust system and Ohlins for the suspension.
And why is this important for Renault Sport? Well recently SEAT’s Leon Cupra broke under 8 minutes around the Nurburgring, 7mins 58 secs to be a little more precise. This is basically the fastest time set by a FWD (front wheel drive) car.
I guess Renault Sport has set the Leon Cupra in it’s sight and will be gunning for the record.
And guess what? Renault Sport has already set a timeline for themselves and the magical date would be the 16th of June. Head over to their webpage and you will see a countdown timer there counting down to the date where they will unleash their monster on the track.
