Nissan has developed an intelligent technology that enables a car to wash itself instantly. It was made possible by a specially made super-hydrophobic paint called Ultra-Ever Dry. It has been specially engineered to be extremely water and oil-resistant by UltraTech International.
“By creating a protective layer of air between the paint and environment, it effectively stops standing water and road spray from creating dirty marks on the car’s surface,” said Nissan in a press statement. The company also claimed that the paint responded well to various weather conditions. Nissan said its engineers will continue testing the paint over the next few months at Nissan’s Technical Center in Europe.
If this technology came to fruition, it could mean that car washes may soon join the ranks of milkman delivery, rat catcher, switchboard operator and so on, where jobs become redundant due to modern technology.
