Ferrari LaFerrari XX track car planned

LaFerrari

Ferrari’s latest hypercar, the LaFerrari, has yet to make much of an appearance on the roads, but word has it that the more extreme and track-based version of the LaFerrari is already in development. The LaFerrari was reported to be given the “XX” treatment, which means we will be getting a much faster version of the already fast LaFerrari. Being the track car only, the LaFerrari XX is set to break any track records that set by Ferrari’s previous XX cars, the FXX and 599 XX. (pictures below)

Antonello Coletta, who is Ferrari’s Head of Sporting Activity Department, made comments to the media that the department is developing the LaFerrari XX, targeted to be launched by early 2015. There won’t be any performance upgrades for the already powerful LaFerrari, but expect some improvements on the suspension, lighter weight, electronic systems tweaks, and slicker tires. Think of it like having Usain Bolt upgraded with lighter and stronger bone structure in a 100m dash and you will get the picture what Ferrari is up to with the LaFerrari FXX.

The standard 800bhp LaFerrari is powered by a 6.3-litre V12 and it is also a hybrid. Now an unofficial source from a British car portal claimed that the LaFerrari XX was spotted to clock the Nurburgring around 6min 35 seconds, which could mean it’s already unofficially set a new lap record for production cars. Regardless, looks like the battle for hypercar supremacy has just reached a new level.
