Well done SPAD! As reported by NST, two Bangladeshi men were recently charged an unbelievable RM950 for a taxi ride from KL Sentral to Setapak, a distance of about 10km…
Initially (reluctantly) agreeing to pay RM50 each before the journey, which is already a ridiculous amount for a 10km ride, the duo were then asked for a whopping RM950 instead by the 30-something taxi driver, which they reluctantly paid for fear of getting beaten-up, as the thug-si driver allegedly had a metal bat with him.
The duo paid, but immediately went to make a police report, and the Land Transport Commission or SPAD also received the report, who then managed to nab the taxi driver in an operation later.
“The taxi used was seized to facilitate investigations under Section 22 and Section 75 of the Land Public Transport Commission(SPAD) Act” – NST.
This is just one of MANY horror stories that have been told in regards to our local public taxis, and we even did a feature about this some time back. Is it any wonder why the general public are opting more and more for Uber and Grab these days?
A couple of years back we won the accolade as having the worst taxi drivers in the world, would it be any surprise if we win it again this year?
