Imagine if you are on the high seas, all you are thinking about is being relaxed and concentrating on finishing your drink whilst you slowly sip on it lounging on the deck. The last thing that might cross your mind is that you have the chance to have a bit of fun on go-karts. In the middle of the sea!
That is right, the Norwegian Joy, a cruise ship due to pick up passengers in June 2017 in China, has a go-kart track on its deck. That is indeed insane. The Go-Karts aren’t the gasoline types, they are electrically powered. Passengers are also reminded that these aren’t exactly bumper cars so caution is at hand.
If you want to have a go, you need to head to Tianjin or Shanghai and get a ticket for their first cruise. The cruise ship was definitely built with China tourist in mind and as you can see from the amenities in the video below, this ship shouts and screams luxury. Built to handle up to 3,900 passengers, the ship will be based in both Shanghai and Tianjin. The ship is built in Germany and it costs around £640million (around RM3.5billion).
Now before anyone gets really excited about the go-kart track, think about it for a second. A ship isn’t exactly that large, which means the track isn’t going to be wasted on a lot of precious space. This means that it will be a small track with extremely tight turns which might just be a novelty ride for passengers who are bored with gambling, swimming and many other amenities on board.

I like that it is a novelty idea and that it is a one of a kind attraction. Time will only tell if it becomes extremely successful or just another “one of the attractions” onboard the Norwegian Joy.
