After the huge success of GTC4Lusso which raised the performance bar for Ferrari’s signature four-seater 12-cylinder GTs, Ferrari now announces the arrival of the new GTC4Lusso T, the first four-seater to sport a V8 turbo engine.

The new GTC4Lusso T uses an award winning “International Engine of the Year 2016”. Its 3.9-litre V8 turbo engine punches out a maximum of 610hp at 7,500 rpm, guaranteeing continuously powerful acceleration thanks to the fact that peak torque of 760 Nm is available between 3,000 and 5,250 rpm. This allows the GTC4Lusso T to perform a century sprint in just 3.5 seconds before reaching a top speed of 320km/h.

In comparison, the GTC4 Lusso with its 6.3-litre 12-cylinder engine is capable of producing 680hp at 8,000 rpm and 697 Nm of torque at 5,750 rpm. It performs a slightly quicker 0-100km/h sprint in 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 335km/h.

The loss of 4 cylinders and the adoption of a rear-wheel-drive-only layout along with turbocharging however has made the Ferrari GTC4 Lusso 50kg lighter than the V12-equipped model, tipping the scales at 1,740 kilograms. It also had a slight impact on the weight distribution as well, now at 46% front and 54% rear, instead of the regular version’s 47% front and 53% rear.

Besides getting a different engine and a RWD setup, the GTC4Lusso T’s dynamic control systems have been calibrated to boost responsiveness to commands. In particular, the 4WS (rear-wheel steering), which is integrated with Side Slip Control (SSC3), makes for more rapid response to steering wheel inputs entering and exiting corners, thanks to the rear wheels steering in the same direction as the front ones.

On top of that, the feeling of longitudinal performance in this new model has been enhanced at low speeds by Variable Boost Management and underscored by throttle response with zero turbo lag. Thanks to variable torque curves (VBM) between 3rd and 7th gear, longitudinal acceleration is consistent through the ratios, increasing smoothly with engine speed, resulting in a feeling of vivid but superbly progressive acceleration, according to the Italian automaker.

In terms of fuel economy, the fuel consumption in the combined cycle is down from the 15.3 liters of the V12 model to 11.6 liters/100 km as a result of the smaller and turbocharged engine. Consequently, CO2 emissions have dropped from 350 g/km to 265 g/km.

The GTC4Lusso T’s styling remains the same as the GTC4 Lusso, with an extremely streamlined, tapered shape that gives it an almost fastback-like silhouette. The GTC4Lusso T cabin features the Dual Cockpit architecture, designed to enhance the shared driving experience for both driver and passenger. It also incorporates the latest iteration of the infotainment system complete with a 10.25-inch HD capacitive touchscreen.

NAZA Italia Sdn Bhd, the official Importer & Distributor for Ferrari in Malaysia is expected to officially launch the new Ferrari GTC4Lusso T next Thursday on 29th September 2016 simultaneously with its global debut at the Paris Motor Show.
