PLUS Advises Users to Claim for Refund if Your SmartTAG is Being Overcharged

SmartTAG and Touch ‘n Go users take note! If you are experiencing a rather suspicious or unusual credit balance in your Touch ‘n Go card when passing through an Electronic Toll System, there’s a possibility that your toll bill has been overcharged due to a technical glitch.

According to our sister website, Hype, a motorist by the name Sai Yew Lee was recently charged 5 times more than the applicable toll charges while passing through a PLUS Highway toll. Sai Yew Lee took to Facebook last Friday (3rd June 2016) to share his personal account about what happened.

According to Sai Yew Lee, the incident took place on Wednesday (1st June 2016) when he was exiting the Rawang Selatan toll from Jalan Tunku Abdul Halim (previously known as Jalan Duta). He was shocked to learn that his initial value of approximately RM100 was reduced to a balance of RM50.70 after passing through the toll booth.

[This] means Plus Highway charged me more than RM50.00 for a less than RM10.00 trip,” Lee was quoted as saying from his FB post.

PLUS has also released a statement clarifying a technical glitch that occurred at one of the SmartTAG entry lanes at Jalan Duta Toll Plaza on 2 June 2016 for 3 minutes between 3:23pm to 3:26pm.

The technical glitch on 2 June had resulted in the system unable to detect entry information for several vehicles entering the highway through the Jalan Duta Toll Plaza. As a result the system had penalized the affected cardholders through automatic toll deductions from their Touch ‘n Go cards.

PLUS advises highway users who were affected by the technical glitch to visit the nearest Customer Service Centre along the PLUS-operated highway to lodge an official refund request. Alternatively, you can contact PLUSline at 1800-88-0000 or email them at crsd@plus.uemnet.com.
