Mercedes-Benz has added a new variant to its C-Class family, which is the new C-Class Coupé. The new C-Class Coupé is set for an official debut in December 2015. Let’s take a closer look at Mercedes-Benz’s latest offering, shall we?
Prof. Dr. Thomas Weber, member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and responsible for Group Research and Mercedes-Benz Cars Development said, “Our new C-Class Coupé continues the philosophy of our exciting coupés. It combines thrilling design with agile sportiness and modern luxury. The C-Class Coupé therefore clearly pledges itself to stylish driving enjoyment.”
Compared to its sedan sibling, the Coupé is sportier, and is 60 mm longer between the firewall and front axle than its predecessor. The Coupé is also wider than its predecessor by 1.6 inches, and sits 15 mm lower. Coupled with the standard 17-inch wheels, gives the new C-Class Coupé a more aggressive stance. Wheelbase is 80 mm longer than its predecessor, which provides more space for passengers inside.
A total of 4 petrol engines will be offering initially, with the C180 getting its power from a turbocharged 1.6-litre engine with 156 hp. A 2-litre engine will be powering the C200, C250 and C300 variants, but with different power figures, which ranges from 184 hp, 211 hp and 245 hp, respectively. Mercedes-Benz will also be offering two diesel engines, with power figures ranging from 170 hp till 204 hp, with SCR technology (Selective Catalytic Reduction) for exhaust gas aftertreatment. All engines are equipped with idle start stop and is compliant with the EURO 6 emission standard.
Buyers can opt for the optional AIRMATIC air suspension all round, which comes with 5 driving modes using the DYNAMIC SELECT Switch; “ECO”, “Comfort”, “Sport”, “Sport +” and “Individual”. The AIRMATIC air suspension also features all-round self-levelling for excellent ride comfort.
For those wanting a sportier appearance can choose the AMG Line package. The AMG Line package has AMG-inspired front bumpers and sills, a diamond radiator grille, 18-inch alloy wheels on the outside, while inside, there is the ARTICO man-made leather/DINAMICA microfibre in black with contrasting topstitching, a multifunction sports steering wheel with flattened bottom section and AMG sports pedals.
