China’s largest sport utility vehicle (SUV) producer, Great Wall Motors through its local licensed manufacturer, Go Automobile Manufacturing (GO Auto) recently launched the most affordable compact SUV in the market called the M4.
Priced from only RM45,000 onwards, The M4 SUV is set to redefine the small SUV market in Malaysia, where SUVs are predominantly priced from RM100,000 and above.
This model is produced at the RM2 billion manufacturing plant with a joint investment with both Go Auto and Great Wall Motors. The company is also set to produce up to 50,000 units of the M4 compact SUV annually.
“Globally, the M4 compact SUV has sold over 200,000 units since being introduced in 2013. It is Great Wall’s flagship model and we are confident that it will do equally well in Malaysia.”
“The M4 is set to compete head-to-head with other SUV’s and we are certain that Malaysians will find the price point attractive. It is affordable, fuel efficient and attractive in all aspects. In fact, it will redefined the B-segment in terms of quality and price,” said Ahmad Azam Sulaiman, Chief Executive Officer of GO Auto.
Available in three variants, the M4 compact SUV features a nimble body, which appears fashionable and economical in increasingly crowded cities.
The M4 Compact SUV sits on a 2383mm wheelbase, is 3961mm long, 1728 wide and 1617mm high. It is powered by a 1.5-litre engine and can deliver up to 78kW (106bhp) of power and 138Nm of torque matched with a 6-speed auto transmission. This enables the M4 to deliver low fuel consumption of 6 litres/100km (claimed).
In terms of safety, all versions come equipped with standard ‘boneless’ windshield wipers, power windows/doors, remote key, Bosch 8.1 ABS + EBD, Brake Assist and dual front airbags.
Backed up by a 3-year warranty, the M4 compact SUV will be available in showrooms nationwide starting 16th July 2014.
