Volkswagen Malaysia today introduces the facelifted Golf hatchback that comes with new added features, offered at a more affordable price tag. There will be two variants for buyers to choose from; Golf 1.4 Highline and Golf 1.4 Comfortline and it is priced at RM159,888* and RM 149,888* respectively.
One of the newly added feature found the Golf 1.4 Highline is the Keyless Entry & Push Start (KESSY) engine start-up technology that permits drivers to start the hatchback by just pressing a button without inserting a key into the ignition.
Additional useful features such as Park Assist and Rest Assist are also available as standard in the 1.4 Highline variant. Park Assist give drivers the convenience of having the car to park itself with a touch of a button, leaving only the pedal work to the driver. Meanwhile, Rest Assist is a state-of-the-art fatigue detection system that senses fading concentration levels by intelligently measuring your pedal and steering-wheel use.
In terms of styling, the Golf 1.4 Highline variant has a sportier looks featuring new 17-inch Madrid wheels and new LED tail lamps, in addition to the automatic headlight activation with ‘Leaving Home’ and manual ‘Coming Home’ function, Bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights and front fog lights with cornering lights. Meanwhile, the 1.4 Comfortline rides on 16-inch Dover wheels.
Inside the cabin, the 1.4 Highline variant now comes with new sport seats with “Mel Stripe” fabric, on top of additional features which include; dark silver-brushed’ decorative inserts on the dashboard and centre console; auto-dimming rear view mirror; cruise control with speed limiter and ‘Climatronic air conditioning system with 2-zone temperature control. Meanwhile, the lower spec 1.4 Comfortline variant will come equipped with comfort seats and multi-function leather steering wheel as standard.
Under the hood, both models will be fitted with a 1.4-litre TSI turbocharged direct injection 4-cylinder petrol engine with an increased output of 150PS (10PS increase from the outgoing model) and a maximum torque of 250Nm. When paired with a 7-speed Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG), the Golf is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.2 seconds before reaching a maximum speed of 216 km/h.
In terms of fuel economy, thanks to both its TSI and DSG technology, the Golf is able to drive at a distance of approximately 20km per litre returning a thrifty 5.0 litres/100km.
Available in 6 choice of colours; Limestone Grey, Sunset Red, Pure White, Deep Black, Pacific Blue and Tungsten Silver, the upgraded Golf is now available for booking at all authorized Volkswagen dealers nationwide.
