Volkswagen’s latest entry into the SUV segment was previewed with the Cross Blue Concept. The new SUV was first spied wearing the older Audi Q7 skin.
A few months after the initial spyshot, Mashable posted photos of this mule, which they suspected was the new Volkswagen SUV, though with some mysterios emblems attached.
Thanks to the folks at CarNewsChina, the new Volkswagen SUV, supposedly called Teramont, has been fully uncovered ahead of its official debut at the GuangZhou Auto Show in November.
The new Volkswagen Teramont is just 30 mm shorter than the Audi Q7, coming in at 5,039 mm. Despite that, the new SUV is wider than the Q7, with a width of 1,989 mm. The Volkswagen Teramont is also taller than the Audi Q7, coming in at 1,773 mm. With that being said, the Volkswagen Teramont has a wheelbase of 2,980 mm, marginally shorter than the Audi Q7’s 3,001 mm.
Power will come from a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that outputs 220 horsepower or 186 horsepower, depending on variant. Folks in North America will get the option of a 3.6-litre V6. The Volkswagen Teramont is built in China at Volkswagen’s VW-Shaghai joint venture plant.
