The Suzuki Swift is no stranger to us, since its arrival to Malaysian shores back in 2005. The second generation Suzuki Swift arrived in 2013, with updated looks and a new downsized engine. For 2017, Suzuki could debut a whole new model, as some sources have claimed.
From the looks of the leaked photos, the new Suzuki Swift will remain the little hatchback’s iconic looks, but with an updated front fascia which includes new headlights, new grille and a new front bumper. The rear end too gets refreshed, though the Swift’s origins can still be seen. These leaked photos also indicate a hidden door handle for the five door version.
AutoExpress claimed that the new Suzuki Swift, when it arrives in 2017, will be powered by a new 1.0-litre petrol engine, while the Swift Sport gets a downsized 1.4-litre petrol engine mated to a manual gearbox. Like before, the Swift Sport is set to debut after the vanilla Swift debuts, with will include revised shocks, brakes and steering tuning.
Inside the new Swift, it appears that Suzuki is attempting to give the Swift to a more upmarket appeal, with a contemporary-shaped design dashboard plus a flat-bottomed steering wheel to complete the looks. Could this be the next-gen Swift Sport? From the looks of it, we certainly won’t deny it..
The 2017 Swift is said to appear in production form at the end of the year, before going for an official debut in 2017.
