The Peugeot 208 was launched in Malaysia back in 2013, offering Malaysians a compact European hatchback with a distinctive looks for a reasonable price.
Peugeot updated the model in June 2015 with a revised exterior plus a new transmission. From the photos, it appears that the Peugeot 208 facelift has already arrived here.
Up front, the facelifted model receives the new “Equalizer” front grille and new LED projector headlights with daytime running lights. Apart from that, the front foglights are now placed in a black housing with chrome trim. The updated rear end sees a pair of 3D lion claw pattern integrated into the rear lights. The wheel design also appears to be new.
Apart from the refreshed exterior, the new 208 will also see the inclusion of the new 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder Puretech engine, likely with 108 hp and 205 Nm, mated to the company’s EAT6 six-speed automatic transmission with tiptronic. Good bye to the old four-speed automatic, it seems. In some markets, the Puretech engine comes equipped with Automatic Stop & Start, allowing the 208 to emit 104 g/km of CO2.
So far, there has been no word on when the launch will be, but December debut could be on the cards. Stay tuned!
