Powering the 1.0-litre variant of the Perodua Bezza is a 998 cc 1KR-VE 3-cylinder petrol engine. New to this engine is the variable valve timing on the engine’s intake side, which brings total output to 67 hp and 91 Nm. According to Perodua, the 1.0-litre variant of the Bezza returns 22.8 km/L when paired with the manual transmission, while the automatic variant manages 21.3 km/L.

1.3L Dual VVT-i

Moving to the 1.3-litre variant, Perodua have fitted a 1,329 cc 1NR-VE 4-cylinder petrol engine. The Dual VVT-i moniker meant that variable valve timing is present on the intake and exhaust side of the all-aluminium engine. Power figures have also improved, as the Bezza 1.3 outputs 94 hp at 6,000 rpm and 121 Nm at 4,000 rpm. Without specifying the test cycle, Perodua said that the automatic variant of the Bezza 1.3 delivers 21.0 km/L, while the manual variant can deliver 21.7 km/L. The range-topping Bezza Advance features Eco Idle, which improves the fuel consumption to 22 km/L.

In terms of equipment, all Perodua Bezza variants get 14-inch alloy wheels (Advance gets different design alloys), 60:40 split folding rear seats, 508-litres of boot space, reverse sensors, all round power windows, dual SRS airbags up front, ABS and EBD.

Starting from the entry-level Standard G variants, the interior upholstery is fabric, while the audio system has only USB connectivity. Side mirrors on the Standard G variants are manually-adjusted side mirrors. The side signals are positioned on the fender itself, not the side mirrors. To open the boot, owners of the Bezza have to use the remote boot release; no unlock mechanism is available on the boot itself. The Bezza Standard G can be had with five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic.

Moving up level up from the Bezza 1.0 is the Bezza 1.3 Premium X. Here, the mid-level variant adds front foglights, front parking sensors, audio system with USB and Bluetooth, rear powered USB for charging, smart keyless entry with push start button, boot release button located on the boot, side mirrors with signal indicators, anti pinch driver side power window and adjustable rear head rest. The Bezza 1.3 Premium X can also be had with an automatic and manual.

The range-topping Bezza variant is the 1.3 Advance. This variant packs all the bells and whistles, including Eco Idle (Perodua’s implementation of Auto Start/Stop), leather upholstery including semi bucket seats up front, front passengers seat belt reminder, side skirting, infotainment system with Smart Link (MirrorLink, in Perodua’s language), reverse camera and unique 14-inch alloys. Apart from that, the Advance variant is also the first Perodua model to be equipped with Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TC) and Hill Hold Assist (HHA). ABS, EBD and Brake Assist is available throughout the range.
