Ferrari has unveiled the updated FF which now dubbed as the GTC4 Lusso, offering more power, better technology and integrating rear-wheel steering with four-wheel drive for the first time.
According to the automaker, the GTC4 Lusso’s name references illustrious predecessors, such as the 330 GTC or its 2+2 sister model, the 330 GT – one of Enzo Ferrari’s favourites – and the 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso. The number 4 indicated the car’s four seats.
The GTC4 Lusso has been given a major facelift which brought subtle but noticeable visual changes like the lowered curve of the roof, a reshaped front bumper with a wider grille, a set of twin rear lights at the rear and a massive rear triple-fence diffuser.
The cabin has also been updated too. It features Dual Cockpit architecture, designed to enhance the shared driving experience for both driver and passenger, with the latter having their own generous optional display with a plethora of functions.
That innovative architecture aside, the cabin’s most striking feature is the beautiful craftsmanship of the materials which have been painstakingly selected and combined to enrich the atmosphere on board. There’s generous wraparound seats that will guarantee all four occupants comfort and room, creating the same ambiance as a luxurious living space.
The GTC4 Lusso also debuts the new infotainment platform featuring a 10.25-inch HD screen with capacitive touch technology. The new steering wheel is more compact thanks to a smaller air bag and the integrated controls are more ergonomic than ever, making for an even sportier driving experience.
Under the hood, the GTC4 Lusso’s 6.3-litre 12-cylinder engine delivers smooth, consistent power, punching out a massive 680hp at 8,000 rpm and 697 Nm of torque at 5,750 rpm. This allows it to sprint from 0-100km/h in 3.4 seconds before reaching a top speed of 335km/h.
Ferrari has also updated the four-wheel drive system by adding for the first time ever, rear-wheel steering. The new 4RM-S (four-wheel drive and steering) system also incorporates the electronic E-Diff and the SCM-E dampers. All the systems are seamlessly integrated by Ferrari’s software which allows the driver to easily handle the huge torque of the engine, even on snow-covered, wet or low grip roads.
The Ferrari GTC4 Lusso will be making its world premiere at the Geneva International Motor Show next month, so if you want to find out the rest of the details, you’ll have to wait till then!
