BMW Motorrad M’sia Introduces New R NineT Range, From RM88k

BMW Motorrad Malaysia has expanded its BMW Heritage segment with the unveiling of the BMW R nineT, BMW R nineT Pure and BMW R nineT Racer.

Introducing the new motorcycles from BMW Motorrad Malaysia, Mr. Han Sang Yun, Managing Director & CEO of BMW Group Malaysia said, “The new BMW Motorrad Heritage lines of motorcycles have enabled us to share our passion for our premium two wheel vehicles with a new segment of customers here and help them make their lives a ride. Over the last two years, BMW Motorrad have been steadily growing in the country, delivering a record breaking of over 1000 motorcycles annually to our performance here. This is a very good indication of not only the growing potential of premium motorcycles in the country but also the appeal our motorcycles are creating in the segment.”

The new BMW R nineT Pure, which is the roadster reduced to the essentials, and the BMW R nineT Racer, which is the classic, old-school half-faired sports motorcycle, are both concepts that were popular in the 1960s and 1970s and continue to inspire nostalgia among many motorcycle enthusiasts to this day.

The new models feature the potent, air/oil-cooled boxer engine with a capacity of 1,170cc and an output of 110hp and a maximum torque of 116Nm, combined with a 6-speed transmission. Both are also designed to meet the requirements of the EU4 pollutant class. This involved fitting the motorcycles with such features as a new engine mapping, a fuel system with carbon canister for fuel tank ventilation and an exhaust system with an altered catalytic converter that has a larger cross-section.

The new BMW R nineT

The new BMW R nineT appears from every angle as a motorcycle with a perfected mix of classic and modern styling themes with high-quality surface finishes.

Also powered by the boxer engine, the power transmission from the boxer engine to the rear wheel of the classic roadster is further transmitted by means of a cardan shaft drive and a six-speed gearbox.

In terms of new highlights, the new BMW R nineT features a new dual speed indicator and rational-speed sensor instrument with on-board computer. Additionally, BMW Motorrad has extended the design program of its Original BMW Motorrad Accessories to include the “Machined” range of customising parts for the new BMW R nineT. The unique design was created in collaboration with Roland Sands, well-known customizer based in California, USA. The optional “Machined Parts” available include “Machined” cylinder head covers, “Machined” headlight rig, “Machined” engine cover, and “Machined” handle bars.

The new BMW R nineT Pure

The new BMW R nineT Pure embodies the essence of the purist, classic roadster. The design draws on a blend of both classic and modern stylistic elements of motorcycle construction combined with high-end details such as footrests and foot bridges in forged aluminium with a clear anodised finish.

Featured as a standard, the fuel tank and front mudguard of the new BMW R nineT Pure are finished in Catalano Grey. It also conveys a sense of sophisticated workmanship in numerous details. For example, the circular headlamp with sheet steel casing and the BMW emblem positioned centrally on the bulb cover also echo BMW Motorrad history.

The instrument cluster perfectly matches the classically reduced appearance of the new BMW R nineT Pure with a circular speedometer featuring an analogue display and integrated indicator lamps. In addition to that, the new roadster is also fitted with an LCD display that shows important information such as the time and trip distance.

The new BMW R nineT Racer

The new BMW R nineT Racer conveys a sense of old-school sporty aspiration with its strikingly short, frame-mounted half-fairing on the steering head, and combines this impression skilfully with modern technology. The front view of the BMW R nineT Racer is especially slim and squat in style, determined by the classic circular headlamp with the BMW emblem positioned centrally on the bulb cover.

The typical café racers of the 1970s always featured analogue circular instruments, and this detail is faithfully reproduced for the new BMW R nineT Racer. The classic sports bike also has an on-board computer featured as standard, which provides a large and clear display on a segmented screen of the most important information such as time, active gear, remaining range, trip distance, service interval and average speed and fuel consumption.

The stainless-steel exhaust system with rear silencer positioned on the left-hand side also reflects the style of a classic motorcycle, commonly seen in café racers and roasters of the 1960s and 1970s. As with the wheels, the new BMW R NineT Racer comes with light alloy cast wheels, as do the BMW R NineT Pure.

The new BMW R nineT Racer is finished in the colour Lightwhite, which appears on the half-fairing, the fuel tank, the front mudguard and the seat hump.

For further customisation, the new classic sports bike can opt for pillion frame, HP carbon parts for the tail cover, mudguard, cover intake snorkel, timing chain cover, and cylinder head cover and cover ignition key, navigation mounting, and more.

The new motorcycles also benefit from special financing programmes courtesy of BMW Credit Malaysia with monthly payments from RM1,490 for the New BMW R nineT, RM1,190 for the New BMW R nineT Pure and RM1,290 for the New BMW R nineT Racer.

The retail price (without on the road expenses and inclusive of GST) for the new models are:
