Set to officially debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November, photos of the China-only BMW 1-Series sedan have surfaced. The BMW 1-Series Sedan is built in China at BMW and Brilliance’s joint-venture plant.
According to Carnewschina, the new BMW 1-Series will be available in three trim levels, which includes the 118i, 120i Luxury and 125i Sport. The base 118i is powered by a 1.5-litre turbo that pushes out 136 hp, while the 2.0-litre turbo is available with two power outputs. The first outputs 192 hp for the 120i Luxury, while the 125i Sport gets 231 hp. All variants of the BMW 1-Series Sedan are front wheel drive.
Visually, all variants are generally identical, though the entry-level 118i loses out on the twin muffler set up that the 120i and 125i has. The 118i can be had with 16-, 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels, while buyers of the 120i and 125i can choose between 17- and 18-inch alloys.
Equipment level can also be customized, so buyers can opt to have halogen or LED headlights, front foglights, heads up display, kidney grille style (less or more vertical slats), debadge option, body coloured or black coloured side mirrors plus illumination door handles. Furthermore, buyers in China can also choose to have sunroof, front and rear parking sensors and various chrome highlights.
The new compact sedan from BMW is expected to enter the Chinese market in early 2017.
