At the 2016 New York International Auto Show, Fiat will be unveiling the 124 Spider Elaborazione Abarth, a throwback that drove Fiat to its first European Rally Championship win in the 1970s.
The Fiat 124 Spider Elaborazione Abarth is essentially a renamed Abarth 124 Spider, though the latter is a European-only model. The one set to debut at New York will be exclusive for the North American market.
Powering the Fiat 124 Spider Elaborazione Abarth is a 1.4-litre turbocharged MultiAir four-cylinder petrol engine, that pumps out a healthy 160 horsepower that is available with a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shift. The Elaborazione Abarth-exclusive Sport Mode changes the calibrations of the engine, automatic transmission, electric power steering and dynamic stability control system.
Elsewhere, the Elaborazione Abarth features mono-tube Bilstein front and rear sport suspension, while the 17-inch alloy wheels is finished in a shade of Gun Metal. Buyers can also opt for Brembo braking system with monoblock aluminum calipers with four pistons.
A total of five colours are available, namely Bianco Gelato (White Clear Coat), Rosso Passione (Red Clear Coat), Nero Cinema (Jet Black Metallic), Grigio Argento (Gray Metallic) and tri-coat Bianco Perla (Crystal White Pearl).
