Just when you thought KL is getting more congested day by day, well imagine what it feels like dealing with Beijing’s bottlenecked 50-lane-wide highway to hell…
Tens of thousands of Beijing motorists were stranded for hours and hours on end in an incredible gridlock during the final day of China’s week-long National Day celebration between October 1 and 7 when over half the country’s population or about 750 million (!) people travelling throughout the country.
The several kilometer-long ‘carmageddon’ on the Beijing-Hong Kong-Macau Expressway was apparently due to a very narrow second checkpoint on the other side of the 50-lane wide tollbooth. We wonder who thought of doing that…oh wait, maybe it’s the same genius road planner who bottle-necked 6-lanes into two after the Eastin Hotel toll…
You can take a look at the video to get a better picture of how massive this traffic jam looks like from a birds eye view. And oh, next time you’re caught in a traffic jam in KL, just remember these images; we guarantee they will ease the stress!
