Taking the excellent Mazda MX-5 as a base car, Fiat has added their own Italian flair which includes a new turbocharged engine and a heavily-redesigned exterior to come up with the 2017 Fiat 124 Spider.
The Fiat 124 Spider nameplate is a throwback to the original Fiat 124 from the 1960s, with its decidedly modern-retro design elements, including the design of the front fascia.
Powering the Fiat 124 Spider is not Mazda’s SkyActiv engines, but should be Fiat’s own 1.4-litre turbocharged inline-four which pushes out 180 horsepower, while the hotter Abarth should be getting its power from a larger 1.7-litre turbocharged inline-four with 240 horsepower. Shown above is the interior of the Fiat 124 Spider, which is basically the same as the one from the Mazda MX-5, save for the Fiat emblem on the steering wheel.
