Proton ramps up production of Persona to fulfill orders

Proton Persona SV 01

Local automaker, Proton is now ramping up production of Persona to meet the steady increase in bookings.

After the completion of some refurbishment and upgrade of the Persona production line in the plant, the company is now adjusting its production schedule of Persona in Tanjung Malim, Perak.

The Persona was launched in 15 August 2007 and has clocked sales of 265,882 units until 31 August 2015. The car has also won several prestigious awards since its introduction, which include being named Best Model of the Year in 2008 by Frost & Sullivan, and crowned Best Family Car by Asian Auto in 2008 and Best Value Car For Money for 1.3 liter and above by NST-Maybank Car of the Year Awards in 2011.

In meeting demands as the year progresses, Proton has increased dealer stocks nationwide. Waiting period for the Proton Persona, at present, stands at 1 month. Production has been stepped up over the past few months to meet demands with the several festive seasons coming up until end of the year. Powered by 1.6 litre Campro IAFM engine, the Persona is available in two variants – Persona Super Value (SV) and Persona Executive, priced from RM44,658.

Currently, Proton is running their 30th Anniversary promotion campaign in conjunction with the Merdeka Day and Hari Malaysia celebration. Buyers will get to enjoy low down payments for selected Proton cars of up to RM3,000 for trade-ins, attractive financing rates of as low as 1.99% and 7-year extended warranty await new buyers, among other interesting promotions.

The sedan car segment has shown significant growth over the years and group of buyers have expanded from the traditional family to the young and professionals. Based on market feedback, we found that there is a steady demand for this type of sedan. Reflecting this demand, we are ramping up our production to meet the growing numbers after assembly of Persona was halted due to refurbishment activities,” said Dato’ Abdul Harith Abdullah, Chief Executive Officer of Proton.

As we see a steady demand in numbers for locally made cars due to the drop in our Ringgit, we’re pleased that more and more Malaysians choose Persona as their preferred car due to its spacious size, moderate fuel consumption and low maintenance cost,” continued Dato’ Harith.
