Nasim Sdn Bhd has officially unveiled the facelifted Peugeot 508 to our market, after teasing it in MidValley, and letting the media have a go at it. So, let’s take a closer look at the new Peugeot 508 facelift.
From the front, the Peugeot 508 facelift now has a revised front end, with Peugeot’s new family face. The front grille has been revised with a more rectangular design, while the headlights also get revised. The LED daytime running lights are now placed right above the front foglights. The lower airdam is also larger with the introduction of the facelift. The Peugeot logo has moved from the bonnet to the front grille, giving the hood a cleaner line.
Moving to the rear, the difference a less substantial than the front end. The most obvious revision is the revised rear light cluster, which now has three vertical LED lightbars instead of visible individual LEDs on the pre-facelift model. The rear reflectors also get their own chrome garnish. The chrome trip that ran along the bootline has also been removed here. The rims come in at 18-inches for the Peugeot 508.
According to Dato’ Samson Anand George, Chief Operating Officer of Nasim,“To date, the 508 makes up 16% of this year’s total sales, the second highest behind the 208. With the road as its territory, the New 508 is set to up the ante in the highly competitive D-segment with cutting-edge styling, innovative technology, leading efficiency and dynamic driveability and safety.”
Inside, there are no major difference, apart from the omission of the controller knob. The facelifted Peugeot 508 now features a touchscreen display for infotainment purposes. The spot where the controller knob was is now a little storage space. The rest of the interior remains identical to the pre-facelift model, so buyers still get all the perks of the pre-facelift model here, including the quad-zone air conditioning system, leather wrapped multi-function steering, heads-up display and paddle shifters.
Powering the facelifted Peugeot 508 is a 1.6-litre Prince turbocharged THP engine, producing 165 PS at 6,000 rpm. The maximum torque of 240 Nm is available from 1,450 rpm till 4,250 rpm. Gearshifts are handled by a 6 speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The Peugeot 508 can sprint from zero to 100 km/h in 9.2 seconds, before reaching a top speed of 220 km/h.
There will be two additional variants of the Peugeot 508, namely the Peugeot 508 GT and Peugeot 508 SW THP. The GT variant is powered by a 2.2-litre turbodiesel HDI engine with 206 PS and 450 Nm of torque. You can identify the GT variant by the 19-inch wheels, premium Nappa leather seats and memory & massage on the front driver’s seat.
Apart from that, Nasim is also offering a station wagon-bodied variant of the Peugeot 508, called the 508 SW THP. The station wagon boasts the same feature list as the regular 508, but with the addition of a panoramic glass roof with an electric shutter system and a motorised tailgate. The Peugeot 508 facelift will be available in five colours, namely Pearl White, Bourrasque Blue, Pine Brown, Artense Grey and Harla Grey. The Peugeot 508 is backed by Nasim’s 5 year unlimited mileage warranty and Peugeot 24 Hours Assistance. Approximate prices start from RM175,000 (508 THP), RM185,000 (SW THP) and RM205,000 (508 GT).
