New BMW i model to debut in 2018

The BMW i brand is planning to introduce a new model set be launched in 2018!

According to the latest edition of German magazine AutoBild, BMW’s sub-brand is planning to introduce a new model called the i5. It will be powered by a plug-in hybrid powerplant, and the system will consists of a petrol engine with 218hp, supported by 2 electric motors with 150hp and 272hp. The total output will stand at a whopping 640hp.

The report also says the vehicle will be based on the long-version of the 5-Series, built for the Chinese market and U.S. In terms of design, the i5 will share some of its design cues with the upcoming 7-Series and will be roughly the same size as the current 6-Series GranCoupe. Autobild also speculates that the price for the i5 will probably be around 100,000 euros (RM390,000 before taxes).
