MINI has just unveiled their new John Cooper Works (JCW) version and already I am liking it. Previously MINI had the 1.6 litre engine across their entire range and this time, the JCW version sports a 2.0 litre engine producing 231hp. A good 20hp over the current model. Also, the torque has been increased to 320Nm, up from 260Nm (280Nm when overboost is engaged).
This allows the MINI to perform the century sprint in 6.1 seconds using the 6-speed Steptronic sports transmission while the manual version only achieves it in 6.3 seconds.
Other new titbits are the reworked suspension setup, a new set of Brembo brakes as well as 17″ rims. As an added option, the MINI Heads Up display is also offered.
In truth, I find it difficult to tell the MINI apart especially between face lifted versions, and thanks to it’s design and styling options, the MINI does look iconic and really does say a lot about an owner’s personality. But I have seen the MINI JCW GP2 edition at Sepang and it is really an amazing car.
