UD Trucks, via the main subsidiary in Malaysia, Tan Chong Industrial Equipment Sdn Bhd has officially launched the Quester series of heavy duty trucks to the Malaysia market. The Quester, a result of combining parent company, Volvo Group’s truck building experience and processes, and UD trucks’s famed reliability and quality. The end result is a series of affordable heavy duty trucks, designed to serve a wide range of applications in mining, construction, distribution and long-haul transportation in Asia’s growth markets and beyond. UD Trucks has been with the Volvo Group since 2007.
The key feature of the Quester trucks is flexibility, which allows options on chassis layouts to give a flexible packing arrangement including different wheelbases, a range of fuel tank sizes and different exhaust directions. Tan Keng Meng, Executive Director, Tan Chong Industrial Equipment Sdn Bhd believed that “As UD Trucks’ latest technologically-advanced truck specifically developed for the world of heavy transportation, we are convinced that this is a truck made for our customers who are in the growing long-haul transportation, distribution, construction and mining industries in Malaysia,”
Joachim Rosenberg, Executive Vice President Volvo Group and Chairman of UD Trucks said “More than 400 full-time experts from different nationalities with different knowledge and experience have been involved to contribute to design, develop, validate and industrialize Quester and its associated services. We have amongst others spent 1.5 million engineering hours and 65,000 test hours to ensure that Quester delivers as good in real conditions as when it was conceived by our skilled engineers”

In conjunction of the launch, attended by players of the transport industry; UD Trucks will be selling the first 50 units of the Quester “6×4” Prime Mover at an attractive RM305,000, inclusive of one year free service and maintenance inclusive of parts, labour and lubricants. That variant of the Quester, powered with a 11 litre 500HP horsepower diesel engine will retail at RM328,000 and additional variants will be launched in the coming future.
Additionally, Tan Chong Industrial Equipment will be also displaying Quester at the Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show (KLIMS) starting this week from 14th to 24th November 2013 at the Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur.
