Manchester United players snub cars from sponsor Chevrolet!

The perks of becoming a football player are undoubtedly rewarding, as proven by Real Madrid as Audi sponsors its luxurious and super cars to the team. English football club giant, Manchester United, is currently sponsored by Chevrolet where the American marque paid £350 million over a 7-year sponsorship deal. While the Real Madrid players were proud with their Audis, that’s not the case for the Red Devils.

Part of the deal was to supply the club with 15 free cars (including Corvette Stingrays and Chevrolet Camaros) for free publicity. Sadly, the scheme backfired when the team’s players, including captain Wayne Rooney and striker Robin van Persie, ditched the Chevrolets in favour of their own posh rides, ranging from Range Rover Sport, Porsches and so on.

To make matters worse, the only person that drives the Chevy is the team’s manager, Louis van Gall, who drives a Captiva SUV which he purchased with his own money! So far, the Chevrolet vehicles are driven (and presumably hooned) by the team’s training ground staff. A Chevrolet spokesman mentioned that the players were under no obligation to drive the cars provided, calling it a ‘voluntary drive programme.’
