I always wondered what would be going through the minds of rally drivers as well as their navigators during a race. Probably trying to gauge what the next turn would be like and how to get the car through the bends on the various road conditions. Now what would they be thinking when the car is in the midst of a crash. Let’s have a look at the video below.
Here we have the driver, Thierry Neuville of Hyundai Shell World Rally Team, driving in a shakedown lap in the Rallye Deutschland and he happened to get into a massive crash. The reaction from his navigator, Nicolas Gilsoul, was absolutely hilarious.
But do not fret, although Thierry may have rolled his car 6 times, he managed to score his first WRC win by winning the Rally of Germany after the Volkswagen team had a crash and ended their 12 win run.
Neuville said: “We have had a strong day and I am very pleased to be holding a podium position heading into the final day. Of course, there are still four stages remaining on Sunday but we are looking in good shape. This morning, we made a good tyre call on the long Panzerplatte stage to select the hard Michelin tyre and this afternoon we have also set some good stage times. We are in a very exciting battle not only for the podium but also trying to keep pace to Kris in second. I look forward to resuming the battle tomorrow and we’ll do all we can to secure our third podium of the season.”
Good for the lad, despite the massive crash during the shakedown session and still managing to fight his way through!
