Ford Malaysia has announced that sales in the month of July were an all-time monthly record with overall retail sales that jumped 60% year-over-year to 1,390 units. The increased sales record was driven by continuing strong demand for the popular Ford Ranger, Ford Fiesta and Ford Kuga as well as the expansion of Ford showrooms across Malaysia.
“This is a great way to kick-off the second half of the year. We know that in addition to prioritising value for money, Malaysian drivers also look for segment-leading safety features and smart technologies. With this record sales month, our global Ford vehicles are clearly delivering on these needs,” said David Westerman, managing director, Malaysia and Asia Pacific Emerging Markets, Ford Motor Company.
The company said that July retail sales of the Ford Ranger pick-up soared 115% year-over-year in July to 868 units – its best-ever monthly performance in Malaysia. Year-to-date, Ranger is the second-best-selling pickup truck in Malaysia, with sales up 53% to 4,535 units.
The new Ford Fiesta on the other hand, delivered July retail sales that surged 158% year-over-year to 347 units, boosted by strong demand for Ford’s 1.0L EcoBoost engine. Meanwhile, the stylish Ford Kuga contributed to the record monthly performance with July sales of 102 units, bringing its year-to-date total to 580 units.
As a result, Ford’s overall year-to-date sales have now risen 30% to 7,910 units. Ford also announced that their sales record will be further boosted with the launch of the all-new EcoSport later this month. Meanwhile, you can read our first impression of the new EcoSport compact urban SUV here.
