We’ve been waiting for quite some time now and finally, Perodua has released the first official teaser picture of their soon to-be-launched model which is rumoured to be called ‘Axia‘.
This photo was released on Perodua’s facebook page along with a caption: The new Perodua standard. Global Inspiration, local innovation.
Details are scarce at the moment but from looks alone, this compact car does resemble the Daihatsu Ayla that is sold in Indonesia.
Perodua previously mentioned that this new model will not replace its Perodua Viva. Instead, it will be positioned between the Viva and Myvi. Rumour has it that this new model will also be powered by a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder engine paired to a 4- or 5-speed automatic transmission. This allows the new model to return 22km per litre of petrol.
Could this be Perodua’s rival to Proton’s new compact car (GSC) which will also be launched sometime this year? We’ll keep you updated!
