While we hardly notice SsangYong cars on our local roads, little did we know that the Korean carmaker has been creating cars since 1954, and is actually the oldest car manufacturer in its country.
The carmaker is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, and to mark the occasion, the company launched special edition models of its Korando and Rexton for the UK market, where it’s been present for two decades.
Of the two, the special edition Korando is based on the already available ELX4 model, which comes with all-wheel drive, to which it adds 18-inch diamond cut wheels, electric sunroof, rear spoiler and chrome detailing and is completed with a pearl white lily metallic paint finish.
Meanwhile, taking the Rexton EX specification, The Rexton W adds front parking sensors, an electric sunroof, heated seats front and rear, a power adjustable passenger seat, DAB sat nav and finished in pearl white lily metallic paint.
Both model are powered by SsangYong’s 2.0-litre Euro 5-compliant 4-cylinder turbo charged e-XDi200 diesel engine mated to either 6-speed manual or 5-speed Mercedes-Benz T-Tronic automatic transmission.
