It was a long time coming really because the old Subaru office was nothing short of dismal and really not reflective of the brand, which in recent years has become ever more prestigious and upmarket. Well, there’s a saying that ‘good things come to those who wait’, but Glenn Tan (above, second from right) Executive Director of Tan Chong International Limited (TCIL) and Group CEO of Motor Image wasn’t one to just wait around, so he’s built a new mega Subaru 3S centre smack in the heart of Petaling Jaya.
Located at Lot 10, Jalan 51A/223 (across the road from Armada Hotel and clearly visible from the Federal Highway), the new 3S centre is befitting of the marque. It’s a huge and well-appointed 3S centre (Sales, Service & Spare Parts), which will be able to cater for the growing number of Subaru owners in the country.
In conjunction with the launch of this new 3S centre, Motor Image also held the regional launch of the Subaru XV STI Performance Edition. While the engine remains the same 2-litre 4-cylinder ‘boxer’ that churns out 150Ps and 196Nm mated to a ‘Lineartronic’ CVT gearbox and requisite AWD system, it now comes with a host of additional ‘STI’ kit which includes front, rear and roof spoilers, side skirts, flexi tower-bar, daytime running lights and STI Performance badges.
Over on the inside buyers will get chromed climate control dials, a matte silver steering wheel control panel and side panels too. The XV STI Performance Edition also features improved handling with additional strut bars and wind-tunnel tested ‘ground-effects’ via front and rear diffusers.
“Subaru customers are very discerning and there has been growing interest for the XV in the Asean region, therefore to cater to this increasing demand for the XV, we want to be able to offer a variety of options for our customers, and the STI performance Edition is one of the projects” said Glenn.
Priced at RM143,800 (base price) the Subaru XV 2.0 STI Performance Edition is now available for booking, and available in 6 colours which include Tangerine Orange, Desert Khaki, Dark Grey, Obsidian Black, Pure White and Ice Silver. Stay tuned to AF for the review coming soon!
